As one who recently traded my Savage for a heavier bike with more power, I'd recommend selling if highway riding is an important factor. On the highway, the difference between my Savage (which had a Supertrapp and no white spacer)and my Nighthawk is remarkable. The Nighthawk, weighing over 100 pounds more than the Savage, is much more stable -- and the suspension and engine combine to give a much more comfortable ride. More importantly, from my point of view, the Nighthawk has plenty of power to get to speed quickly and to increase speed rapidly, even from 85 mph, when necessary. When you're at highway speeds on the Savage, you're running close to (or at)the bike's maximum; there won't be much power left to dodge a lane-thief or get away from a tailgater. The Savage is a good around-town bike, but bigger is probably better (up to a point) for highway riding.
